Careening to America where they set up colonies

Fending and competing

Thinking, essentially, there was pie –

Call it Europe

And they profited to the extent provided by

The land they controlled.

            Technological advances allow a bigger pie –

            How to harvest crops and resources and labor

            With efficiency and productivity

continually rising.

            As we now have an international population

            The processes of genetic integration

            Accelerated by women in the workforce –

            Circulating in wider arcs than ever before.

The windows of life open fully

The breeze comes from all directions

Influences, like spice in the air

Languages merging

Songs with lyrics mixed like colors

Bringing tones and rhythms new accents.

            Bands of young people

            Walking together with their joyous palette

            No longer ethnically linked

            As the 21st Century America emerges.

Exploding the nationality mentality

Becoming a major feature

Of certain political movements

As politicians wave in the polls

To whatever group will listen
