WHERE IS THE DISTANCE?

Where is the distance?

I don’t feel it.

You seem close

As though a hovering hummingbird

In sequence above me

While I dither with doubt

In soliloquy with singularity

Yet realize inside, I am of thee

And no words can separate us

No past images of photos and replicas

No children, or their offspring

No piece of art

No poem

No, not even that great retreat

Across the chasm of time

Can touch us together

One more time

No not even once more

         To the beach we rush

         Headlong

         Into the raging surf

         Seeking what?

         Can you ask?

         Wanting more?

         A brother, sister, lover, wife?

         Well, we are all one

Aren’t we under this perfect God?

No says the sinister

Yes, says the God-seeker

We are one

You may be it – we are one – no disclaimer

The gospel is a definition

Of our unity, our multipurpose, our destiny                           201126.3
