SEEKING MEAN HIGH TIDE

They spout epithets
“Yellow Journalism”
Without knowing that it was the cartoon character Of a yellow bald boy, when poor meant lice,
And boys with lice had their heads shaved
And in 1890’sNew York
Joe Pulitzer’s newspaper
Copied W.R. Hearst’s caricature
When he bought the “Journal”
And challenged “The World” of Pulitzer.
And they used the appeal to the working class – Which meant 14 hour work days
Under horrific conditions
Compared to any worker today.
Child labor abuse the norm.

Winchell became an icon
Gossip, insult, celebrity, Marilyn! Winning a World War – Wow!
Now your stars are golden . . .
Imagine the studios, the networks –
We own Europe and all the world . . . Except Russia . . . and who needs them –

America made movies of the world.
From its viewpoint
With its great actors, writers and directors Who put life on film
And entertained a whole world
Its singers, idolized
Its phones and computers mimicked globally And the poor flood here
As does the ocean
Seeking mean high tide
