The beautiful Linda

Stepped out of the car –

Walked slowly to the trunk

Gazed out on the Golden Gate

Knowing cancer had taken hold.

I go back to her –

Again, for the 10,000th time –

To hug and hold her

As we always did

25 years of bliss and kisses

Besos, she called them.

The sweetness of her voice

The delicate expressions –

You hold them

Forever.

Just a lucky man

Thought it 10,000 times.

Why, who was I that was so favored?

And what is the outcome

When one has touched the pearl? –

Humanity, evolved to a lovely girl

Who was in touch with Eros and eternity.

God’s love found her equally.

            A step out of the path

            The dog knocked her down –

            I was feeling it.

            She smiled as I lifted her

            “Lovely dog, no concern” she said.

            Not me, “I missed,” I thought.

            No harm caused, except her loss.

            All majesty foreign and vague.

            What is real is the empty.  day.
