Silver stars fill the void
Even in full daylight
Each love a conquering hero
Each million a personal miracle
Slapping you flush across the cheek
Wondering how you, once so small
Got these ripe fruit
As if the pursuit
The passion of the chase
Didn’t produce the reward
Bringing a sense of wonder
As to how you ever had the energy,
Formulated the commitment,
And carried out 10,000 duties –
Each as competently as you could summon.
Spinning each day until each star was caught
Examined for value
And then released –
On to the next bright object –
To the next pursuit
Until the night sky is emptied
Back to the void
And the eyes continue to scan
Continue the endless search
Until it too is seen as a star. –
Just looking –
The act of the search
Becomes the object itself
And there is no more worry
For the world has been fully explored
And the memory bank overflows 220311.1
