YOUR ROLE, SO PERSONALLY FELT
Your role, so personally felt
Loosens its hold
Those positions of authority
Those people you supported
Dissipate in the dim dusk of last year
Pure savage artistry strolls by
Grabs hold again with willful intent
As much to occupy the human body
As to fill a need of gone-by time
And you lift off in bright sun
You see more clearly
The genius of God less opaque
Welcoming arms of love appear
Somehow materializing from memory
And though no body accompanies
The arms seem sufficient
As when you lose someone
And you feel that you need them back
In any condition
Just back
Yet as soon as you express the thought
You know futility supersedes wishes
Walking along unsupervised
The minds of adolescents wander
Yet always circle back
To the miracle of the senses
Following the highs of touch and sight
Bringing the unfound even more allure
Each untested thrill
The soaring flight of the body in action
Against the rainbow
That forms for each of us who look
