WORLD TURNED COLD AND ARBITRARY
World turned cold and arbitrary
Crowded with consumers
Growers growing scarce
A nation of chimpanzees on Monkey Island
Waiting for the lettuce to be tossed in
By grinning keepers
Whose canines can’t hide the disdain
They feel for the captives
Their own species, just docile
Waiting for bananas and nuts
To fall from the Zoo’s clouds
Benevolent donors to the concrete
Praying for docility from the tax man
And fragility of his accounts –
Always subject to greed
Any avaricious personalities
Who linger by the road side
Meandering across the lanes
Sobriety in question
As they dance and bounce through traffic
Each car slowing to watch
The rebels in bikinis
As they roller skate city streets
Music of the beat kind playing
Rolling with the gang
The head of the snake
Pounds a drum
Behind him, a Pantheon of Gods and Goddesses
Each beaming from some higher state
Than can be obtained
By the normal native
No matter how perfect she skates 230117.2
