WE SIT HERE, CALM
We sit here, calm
As beautiful as could be
Meditative in our absorption
Of view, climate and company
Able to be alone
Or with you
In this equilibrium
Between the world of the senses
And the observant soul of the self
Which watches
And does not change
Which sees and hears
The machinations of body and mind
The duo of deception
Which made us believers in the movie
Rather than the producer of the film
Do not suspend disbelief
In the temporary nature
Of you and all you touch that is warm
That has blood
Of any sort
Will be gone
In the blink of a thousand glances
Which will take their toll
But leave an enhanced soul
Enriched by the leaps
Seasoned by the depths
Enlightened by the love
The hungry self gets
But only when it learns
To give it first
And without relent
