WE RESIDE IN THE MIDDLE
We reside in the middle
Of a great injustice
Our children submerged
All expectations deferred
Until deferment is forgotten
And the present is empty

Congested with the close proximity

With only a thin green bank account
Between citizen and lay-a-bout

Once employed, looking for orders
But no one dictates
And they shuffle
Shuffle along
Waiting for orders that never come
And here she is
Golden slumbers meet my eyes
An elegant bachelorette
A match to my eloquence
And she of nobility
You can touch the perfection
You can smell the erudition
You can believe she is yours
Yet somehow she slips out of reach
As good at evasion as you are
And there is the heart of it
And why you cannot fully separate 200723.3
