WAVES CONTINUE THEIR MARCH

Waves continue their march

Toward the shore

Towering ships cut through

The prow slicing irresistible force

Directing it at a slight angle

Backed by immense mass

I await the arrival of a son

            Who is almost as irresistible

            As the sailboats follow

            Like seagulls after sloppy child

            Drifting their aimless hulls

Envious of the ships long voyage

            Just commencing

            Yet real every day

Capture the peace of the sun

It beams strength and warmth

You become numb

Worries of finality approaching

Don’t catch you full force

Slightly angled off course

Like the prow of consciousness

Which allows us to see

How similar we are

And how connected in reality

            Until the ship passes

            The sea closes in behind

            Just as before

            Waves rejoin in mutual activity

            Heading on

As each sail boat bobs and weaves

            Its own path

            Seeking relief
