UNION OF SOULS

 

So mutual respect

Is the source.

Patience and communication are tools

Through which friendship is established

And maintained and allowed to grow

On its own

As an organic union of souls

Who commit long term

To be beside the other

To know when they are needed

Or not needed – in fact –

Is it true that the best friend

Is the one who teaches you all he knows

And then moves on?

         So that you, now enlightened –

         Full of love –

         Moves on to another person

         And the atoms and the molecules

         Line up just so

         And another being is wrought

         Produced from their baser cloth

         Into a multi-hued successor

         Of the wisdom of the founder

         Who cannot be traced any longer

         Being so far in the rear view mirror –

We last a bit longer

Each generation

Until 120 years could be had.

But of what quality are those years?

And the inner beacon rose up

And announced that he alone

Would be the deciding factor
