Until you run out

Of florid common adjectives

Describing your sex

Your notions of beauty, truth and knowledge

Comparisons almost never-ending

Like walking down a city street

Contrasting girl after girl

As would a photo agent

Seeking tantalizing meat

To which the world will succumb

Unless age makes beauty

Beat a hasty retreat

            To capture silence

            In the middle of night

            Knowing each sound

            And recognizing their absence

            Like when a child is gone

            The house eerily empty

Fullness of time

Having caught us in a silken web

Feeling comfort

Holding our senses supreme

Until we get to the point of

Complete immersion in the human form

Unable to envision any existence

Without the body and brain

            Transferring such certainty

            To the awareness of consciousness

            Separate and independent

            Of any individual

Making invisible distinctions
