TIME TO HEAL
Until the last silent virtue
Cannot be discerned
Until no self-sacrifice is revered
In need, until consciousness is lost
Those of courage and good heart carry on
Living lives of quiet morality
Raising families and finding God
In simple pursuits of work and love
Independent of scurrilous motivations
That surround a clean life
With the refuse of greed
While here, look for what lasts –
Love and family come to mind –
Though temporary and sometimes difficult
We are bonded to other lives
And through good acts
We are recognized.
Even if not all the time
And even if doubts linger
You can pursue kindness
Before anger or aggression.
Give the other time to heal –
Provide space and silence
Or easy gentle tones –
Allow tempers to subside.
One week into calmer waters
Waves are gentle and warm.
The sun beckons as always
To breath deep and feel complete
Even if a missing piece.
The V-12 still purrs
Nearly silent and able to roar
