THERE GOES THE SUNNY SIDE OF AGAIN

 

There goes the sunny side of again

Sliding down the sidewalk

As only the 1% does

Having nothing to do with income

But a lot to do with beauty

And much to do with wealth

And how it is defined

         Can it be quantified

         Real wealth is partly ease

         Part acceptance

         Part lack of greed

         Combined to build a face

         That expresses compassion and grace

         Having forgotten infinite need

         Rejected compiling assets and favors

Here she comes again

Well-to-do clothes and demeanor

A posture both restive and alert

Her eyes wide shut

Peering directly at me through shades

Designed in Paris for the haughty look

Can see her pupils

Try to penetrate my veneer

         My smile probably invisible

         Obvious isn’t for me

         Attracts wannabees

         Who at this pace won’t keep up

         Tiring as they do

         Suddenly and without notice

This time it is magic again
