SURVIVE
The world sank into battle
Hostility between flags
Cultures, people, food, art, music
All intertwined
Genealogy a convoluted Congo line
Interbred babies since time began
The mix of chromosomes beneficial
Diversifying the risk
Survival it is
Whether tree lobsters on Lord Howe Island
Or the pretty girl walking
Beside you right now
She looks into you
Wonders about the wonder that is you
You respond
With a slight smile
Interested, but not overtly
While the drama unfolds
Children of wealth and privilege
A wanderer among stones
Who sees the future?
How clear is it?
Are the girls just as pretty?
Will there be a circus and cotton candy?
Or will the Prom be cancelled
And the big game postponed
While the politicians scold
Each other and the whole wide world
For not being perfect
When all we want
Is to be left alone.
And with that, we depart
