I SUPPOSE THEY WOULD HAVE DREAMED
I suppose they would have dreamed
As all parents rightly do
Of successes and successors
Even if just a few
That would show the influence
Would illustrate the teachings
Could turn hate to love
And their lives would have worth.
And even if they dreamed
Of more mundane notions
Say independence, honor and truth
It would be reasonable and normal.
Perhaps even a few grand aspects thrown in –
First to fly to the moon . . .
Predicted the market 90% of the time . . .
Sold truth and virtue
And never stole a dime . . .
All great ideas come from an open mind
That can see clearly
Options and odds
Ways of viewing an issue
That do not alienate disparate sides
Well the truth of love
Is loss
The price
Always factored in.
That is what produces the joy –
The knowledge of impermanence
The longing for belonging
That drives the human gears.
While today is an opportunity
Some see on-coming inclement weather
