SUDDENLY OLD FRIENDS
Suddenly old friends
What is it that sparks you?
Are you animated in the nude?
Do you seek comfort with a stranger
When the familiar isn’t home?
Why is there animus
When all the world should be calm?
And where did the peace go
When the war ended
And the troops went home?
Which post-war are you
The decided or the damned
Those born after an invasion
Provoked by agents of the Red.
Same old story
Use the workers as the purpose
Propose solutions beyond the means
Print the pretty bills
Circulate in your member banks
Watch them be scooped up in bushels
As the flag flutters in the breeze
Your baby is nothing
While I am the total company
It is I who have the flag
No one else quite the same
It is decided and I stand
While the merciless
Tremble to the man
It is mercy and kindness
That illustrate strength
The winner doesn’t need
The loser to grovel and blink
Let him imagine another chance 180811.1
