THE SPACE BETWEEN US
Friend . . .?
Mutually beneficial relationships
Devoted admiration
Submerged preoccupation.
The opposite sex
Becomes the objectification
Of an internal search for perfection
Like the dog owner
Who scoured every source
For the ideal puppy
Who’s breed and lineage suggested greatness.
But the human is a work in progress
Revealing only inklings of its potential
Because delivery and timing are essential
Elements of a successful venture
Economic or sensual
Visual or consensual
And when it comes to touching
We are all in constant search
For the one, the only
Touch of recognition –
The idea that there is someone
Call him “me”
Who is intuitively connected with
Call her “you”
And the space between us
Is really nothingness –
Which means You and I
Are, intimate.
Simple, yet true.
There is some elasticity
That should be granted to that statement
