HER SILKEN FINGERTIPS
How long do you last
Resilient friend? –
Counselor of calm
Regulator of emotive energy
Somehow maintaining balance
Amid the greatest of “G” forces –
That of great accepting love
Love, forgiveness, gratitude, kindness –
The whole menu of fine human characteristics
We last as long as we are necessary –
A function, a future, an idea.
We don’t know the Matrix
Upon which human worth is charted.
We have vague concepts
Of reward for work and loyalty.
Go to school – find knowledge –
There it sits – available, isolated.
And then life hits
An awkward path of boulders and sweet delights
You see her
It is golden
It is worth the long chase
It lasts
And then circumstance intervenes
And the world shifts implausibly –
What was out of the question
Becomes fact.
What was expected becomes fiction.
Golden legs
Ruby lips
A silent mouth
Her silken fingertips
