SAY GOODDAY
Could I separate
Present life from history
From how memory reflects actuality
Recalling people
A special person
How she saw life, herself and me
Moments frozen in the grey matter
Visions leading to dreams
Wondering how they will play out
Over the span granted
An overriding purpose?
Do we exalt ourselves so?
Beyond genetic progression?
What is the spirit and
Does it ever give up?
Change to a material being
Exhausted by eternity?
Go for a long hike
Climb a boulder or a hundred
Capture the free wind in your lungs
See how holding anything too long
Changes its nature
Turns it to morphed form
With altered purposes
Whether held selfishly or not
Molecules line up different
Exhale that captive
Let her go
Let go of the hand
Let go of the face
Let go of the voice
Say good day to beauty
