YEA, RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE

Yea, right down the middle

The river deep and wide

Should a boulder have the temerity

To jut up from surface

It is avoided adeptly

Never a full impact

Glancing scrapes and gouges

Yet on down the stream

Unwilling to pull over to shore

And on and on

The sights becoming familiar

The passing scenes predictable

Other vessels slowing

Planning for an end

Looking for a good spot to land

A place to set camp

Relax by the fire

Wait a lifetime or two

And reflect the lessons of the river

Perseverance, energy

Unwavering intent to go on

            Will the observations yield fruit?

            Will the effort pay off?

            To be kind, generous, thoughtful?

            To be strong, resilient, flexible?

Wait and see is all we can do.

Push forward with hope and energy.

A world awaits the re-entry.

Your soul constant and true

Nothing more is required of you

Once you learn to cause no harm, willingly.

As for chance and God’s intent, we watch.
