PRINCESS OF THE SHORE
Felt like we were doing well
Then Googled it
And there we were
One of the ten happiest families
As if they knew the inner workings
And had come up with some quants
To verify the position
That if you look forward
To the next day with great anticipation
The next victory
Business, sport, sex
The better your life
The better the group
Yours, ours, theirs, everyone’s
So that no one captures elusive creatures
Quite as adeptly as the truth
Their truth is no different
Replay the lines
The one that brought your happiness
The repartee of our times
Telling the other about others
Remembering and projecting
Rather than swimming chest
high in the Brine
Alive with all the emotional detachment
Of an ancient warrior
And the presence of a nubile
A princess of the shore
Who told of commonality
And how the species made amour
After that and some Dom Perignon
We succumbed to a more subtle view
One of accommodation and mutual respect
