POWER UNUSED
Had to consume myself
An irrevocable sense of permanence
Began to overcome logic
As the spirit ascended
While the body walked below
Captive of the leading man
Making his way
Refusing to be restrained
Smooth exterior she purrs
How illuminating the words
How delicate and full the lips
While speaking full sentences
That nearly trip with meaning
As each word is perceived
She listens
Watches the coming month
Sings to herself, “What a lucky girl...”
Knows life is brief and ready to explode
How we know this nobody knows
Except here in Heaven
Where we each become undisturbed
Able to live out our life, unperturbed
By threats to body and mind
Having seen the mercy of our Lord
How eight billion exist as one
Harboring our earth
Protecting continuation of the species
Harnessing the weapons
In a state of equanimity
Power unused
Is power indeed
As long as the real possibility of its use
Is understood
