Given freedom to express themselves
Youth will drive cultural change.
Each generation awakens in their teens --
Looks around for contradictions
Between what they were taught as children
And what they now perceive
As the real world of high school and college.
And some go to work
And some go disparate ways --
Often down dead ends --
Most often because of poor parenting. --
One "Mother" who works.
Absent "father."
Where does the child learn?
Peers and the internet and music.
Culture changes as the youth
Enter and influence companies
Often seeking the eyes and money of youth
When do the politics change? --
A bit each year
As the international corporate media
Extend their programming into youth.
Their votes are crucial
In elections with two "parties" --
And slim margins.
As these youth mature
They face the loss of liberty
As the permanent government imbeds itself
In the daily survival of the citizens.
