OVER LOOK

On it goes

One beautiful day after another

One mystic beat on the cosmic calendar

Fitting into its flow

As though born at the most fortunate moment

Not a minute earlier or later --

Remember when the car ran over your bicycle

And you flew off the hood

Landing on grass?

One moment earlier and gone or worse.

And numerous other daggers dodged

As though plucked from disaster

By an invisible force

Directing or grasping

At the optimum time.

         To a point sublime

No pain, no agony registering deeply.

         Shrug off the missile

         Ignore negative thought patterns

Let them run their silly course.

         Listen to the solemn beat

         Earth spinning, circling

         Our ride through the Heavens

Perfectly adapted to the environment --

Fog, winds of torrent, rain and snow

         Blanketing the poles

         Unrelenting sun at the equator.

         Our Mediterranean climate

Clinging to the coast and Bay

         As the native indigenous

         Did for hundreds of years.

Our sacred lodge overlooking the world
