ONCE ACTORS PERFORMED
How high was that hill we climbed?
Can’t look back anymore –
Too many peaks and valleys in the way.
You wonder why
But the dreams don’t answer anything anymore
Once a searcher
On a long, strange trip –
Reaching for Dharma
And finding Karma –
Where each result
Flowed unequivocally from attitude –
As if a shield to bad results
Was the expectation of good –
And over and over the lessons of the Lord –
As we seek him on earth –
Knowing he cannot be found here.
And that of all the circumstances
That have befallen certain friends
It seems some are truly unfair –
Those righteous children
Blown up in Ukraine –
At one now –
But it is with the rubble.
A crumbled theater
Where once actors played
And the girls sang
Songs with hope in their Holy Voices.
Celebrating the future
Gets a bit clouded during war –
As if darkness was dawn
And the sun itself was black –
While the killing and bombs seem to never stop 220322.1
