NOW WE ARE AN ECONOMIC COLLECTIVE
Now we are an economic collective
So say the arbiters
Or so says the media
And who else could we hear
Except the be-knighted saints
Who read verbal cues
And expostulate on virtue
Regardless of personal knowledge
Devoid of context
As if a BBC voiceover
Intoning patience and acceptance
Of whatever vile disorder
Or monstrous mayhem
Is the subject of the current V.P. of Programming
Recently minted after Ivy
Matriculated on Wall Street
Prospered in D.C.
Lobbied for mercy for Nuns
Curried favor in tipsy salons
Murky with detail
Somber with a personal tale
Humorous without being obvious
And devious oh boy, devious
Until the sun burst
And candy flowed
From the mouth of Jesus
To the ear of the war lord
Merciless, his response
Inevitable was his logic
Immutable is the law
And what you give you absorb
Beyond that, all is speculative
