NO RESTRAINTS ON US
There would be no restraints on us
We would love each other regardless
If she walked into a room, it was hers
If a bird sang a lovely tune
It was aimed at her
And when sun came out
She outshone it
In a contest old Sol conceded
Well, we are nothing if not ego
For who drives this body
And who seeks its rewards
And why are we running so fast
That the pulse of life can be deeply felt?
Perhaps the wind will reveal its motive
Or the cat tell its sly story
But if we are left to our own devices
We were so full of energy and drive
That the difference between us and others
Was a mile wide
A chasm, and we were on one side
And way over there unreachable
Was the rest of humanity
Just barely able to see us
Through the fog that love produces
Its own camouflage
People look, squint, sort of see,
But they never really see
No, we are almost invisible
Reflective of all ill will
And thus impervious
To negative influence
And the conductivity of greed and envy
