NO CLOSED DOOR
“Self-inflicted suffering is useless
As long as the feeling of self is dominant”
“While keeping the body healthy is a duty
Else the mind will not be strong and clear”
We find these discourses
Useful in the extreme
Having the human form and needs
Though separated by twenty-five centuries
More clear today
After history has been discharged
Proving point after point
Regarding a middle way
If you seek relief
From trying to justify beliefs
Some handed down in grand buildings
By special people in special robes
With varieties of sumptuous amulets
From stained glass to minarets
Grand structures cavernous and damp
To open plazas of supplicants
Pledging their faith to their camp.
Wondering silently with direct gaze
Unwarranted thoughts discarded
Heading back to clarity of purpose
To help and observe
To do no harm
Obsolete no more
In the pursuit of the future
There can be no closed door
