MAGNIFICENT EQUANIMITY
They have many centuries
A head start quite enormous
Not adventuring across vast oceans
Rather repelling invaders from the west
Who cross tall walls
Who come as adventurer Marco Polo
Behind who come Stalin and Hitler.
Who else seeks to invade
The cultured valleys and wild peaks
That are China and all its feats?
Now, second largest economy
The most people
The greatest unanimity
Backed by dollar bets
Much larger than the British pound.
More ingrained than Hong Kong
People who make the products
Wake each day
With a President for life
Who is known as XI
But may as well be God
Because they are not Christian
And they are not Muslim
And as far as Buddhism
They remember him
Kind man, died poor.
Merchants are all more wealthy
Having money
Call it Yuan
While he only had eternity
And the ability to respond
With magnificent equanimity
