LIPS FIRST, A CHEETAH GASPED

Love of my life

She sang to my ear

Gone from the boredom

Came up next to me

Out of the blue

She came up right into me

Lips first

            An icon of hyper-sex

A banner waved in the wind

            Salt air chilling

            Her most prized parts

Those golden moments when you are one

            Sure it will last forever

But unsure of how long that might be

So you hole up in L.A., Venice

An apartment above the sea

Damp air overwhelming the senses

Santa Monica at PCH and the Ten

Swerving up to the bluff

Palisades Park and San Vicente

She ran with me

I flew

She never knew what hit her

I ran so fast a cheetah gasped

Held her breath

Copulating with a wild man

Who womanized her sorrow

And drew up a plan

Which carries on

Children, home, belonging

Long after her parting

Sweet sorrow is so sorrowful'                                                                       180605.2
