Just ice here
No justice to be seen.
This sculpture with lady Justice
Wearing a blindfold
To symbolize that each case --
From investigation, to charges, to trial
To sentencing if any,
All our due process protections,
Must be administered
As if the state is blind --
To race, wealth, privilege and influence.
If the blindfold is removed
And these factors are considered --
Allowed to influence the process --
Justice is skewed --
In the direction of power -- both sides
The accused and the state --
Depending on political views
Freeing or convicting citizens --
Who lose confidence in the state system.
But it depends on those within the system
To change it -- we are a
Representative Republic
Not a pure democracy --
Congress & a President & a High Court
Are necessary to pass and enact and enforce
Changes to the justice system
Technology media
Reach indirectly
Through the education system --
Influencing, powerfully, values and ethics.
Such as; the end justifies the means
