JUST LIKE HIGH SCHOOL
Some see
The beginning of the night
A world swathed in darkness
The plague of greed in virus form
Breathing and breeding
Its destructive germ
Immolating purity with disgust
As though being good was unjust
When the evil merchants
Peddle utopian phrases
Indicting dozens of generations
That, individually, made choices
Some for good
And others, abysmal
Losers and deceitful animals
While the United States of America
Generally, stood for good
And history shows it
Toppling dictators from Europe and Asia
Sending money, medicine and doctors
To a starving post world wars world
And then, the opportunists.
Who puff themselves up
See Corinthians
And usurp, feed, defile and burp
Your politicians among them
And you go, why?
And the answer pops up uniformly
Selfish greed among the top five
Better now to compromise
Yes, black and white, brown and yellow
Hear me, you are all just equal
No group is special, just like high school
