INVISIBLE SKI-BOAT WAKES
I would have run all day
To find her
There with my memories
All aglow
Early first kisses
Love in the 17th year
Long rides in the two-seater
Far into wooded nights
To tent on the lake’s eastern shore
Seeing sunset
Over invisible ski-boat wakes
Lying together
No adults about
To find what is
In this hologramic world
Where reality is not always
What we see
Who was to know
If we said what we thought
Maybe argued out positions
On the world stage
Or made each other laugh
While we sang
The hit parade
Top of our lungs
As we ran the trails
And hiked the streets
Of many cities
Youth itself
Lived together
Learning, loving, separating
My life now almost perfect and serene
A lifetime of accomplishment and love
Based on those early dreams
