IMAGINE AND ENDURE

Is religion

About not dying?

Life after death?

Whatever original creation story –

It is about what happens after life.

Is there a connection?

Who will be there?

What will it be like?

And forever the answers flow.

Each culture unfolds.

Dreams, aspirations, hopes –

All there to see

For the children

For the girls

For the grandparents who get old

And all life’s creatures which

Must somehow fit in the fold

            The world a delicate place

            A place for tough souls

            Who go on beyond

            To where we cannot know.

By definition we cannot be sure

            But our nature

            Is to imagine and endure

We see the future

Glorious and bright

Prosperous, healthy, pretty and nice

Yet we also know the bones

Just underneath our cheeks and chin

Are white and ancient and last beyond the grin

That now I can make and truly mean.

Smile, for the moment is fleeting --
