IF THIS IS A DAY THAT CHOOSES
If this is a day that chooses
To go swiftly and without discord
Then welcome the lack of confusion.
Seeing beneficial survival as sufficient
Evading the gangsters of the soul –
Greed, jealousy, hate and anger –
Ever lurking near the rainbow
With promises oozing
If it is a night that speaks gently
Telling you secrets of love
Welcome the sweet tones
They come too early and are too sweet
To grasp their rare beauty
Imagining they will continue
When often they are far too brief
And if you are somewhere in the middle
Hearing both the sacred and the profane
Knowing life is flying by
Yet hoping it carries you along
Ever-young and emotionally strong
Able to handle the ups and downs
That seem to occur
Despite a life clear and pure
Deciding things seems temporary.
How far away is long term?
Does the day end alone?
And is the conscience clean and dry?
Then find sweet solace in the past –
Events done and decided
The future looks back
But we cannot see them
No matter how carefully we search. 190205.2
