I WAS THINKING ABOUT ASKING

 

I was thinking about asking

For some more sympathy from the devil

But then I remembered

I didn’t believe in him at all

Nor any other notions

Of eternal life or damnation

And any of their associated

Belief systems and shenanigans

Attempting to take credit for

And profit from

Man’s inherent, intrinsic nature

Which seeks a spiritual realm

            And instead of just accepting

            That those thoughts

            Are natural and pure

            Attempts by all men

            Of all times

            To answer the unanswerable

            And to feel God’s grace

            Fall upon their head –

            These systems and their promoters

            Mislead and misguide

Now is an easy time

Perhaps the perfect day

To reside in a state of ease

For the rest of your earthly days

Contemplating the miracle

Of which you are part

            Consummate observers

            Patient in their view

            Will see intent behind action

            And direct themselves to the values

            That they will adhere to                                150105.1
