HIGH TRAPEZE
Going with this circuitous flow
Which doesn’t seem to be sending me
Straight to my undiscovered land
Unless here I am already
But don’t realize it
I see fictions that cloud
That like lovely cirrus above
Beautifully mask the reality of the void
Filling eyes with sensuosity
Everywhere I look
Some perfect specimen
Woman, tree, bird, flower child
Even must admire a man here and there
Though I will fight for supremacy
I will acknowledge brains and brawn
They do exist and I do not have them all
Though in this gleaming silence
I have all I need
She says fillingly –
“Have you heard of happiness?”
Oh yes! I respond willingly
It took me by a storm
Just the other morning
I looked up upon waking
Your eyes looked down lovingly
Your body descended on mine
Your lips took hold of my mind
We ran off into the day
More than half-fulfilled
She to see the circus
Me to perform
High trapeze one-armed clown
