HAVE TO WONDER

Have to wonder

If it ever comes true

That the love lasts forever

Between her and you

            Could it be a fiction

            That flirts with the mind?

            Or is it pure reality

That you are two of a kind?

Should you forget the past

And immerse in this clear stream

That beckons with a smile

That outshines the moonlit sea?

            Where does the moon go

When it hides behind the clouds?

            Off to her own Heaven

            Or just fooling around?

Yes, she makes us wonder –

How many lovers does she have?

All the world loves a lover

But only a man takes one wife

So she succumbs to the anvil

            That is a pure life

            Home, child, husband, duty

            Instead of the fast life

            And in this departure

            Her entire being rests

As if the proof of femininity

Is the conquering of past passion

            And allowing one love

To overcome all of the rest

And in her arms, a child

As if it was intended by a just God.
