FEEDING ITSELF
An obese government
Yet ever-energetic
Feeding itself with new hires
Millions of people
Working for government
In business compliance with regulations
At the level of town or city
Taxes at every level
For property privately owned,
Not the governments,
Yet they take several percent each year --
Add it up. State and Federal.
Who owned it all along?
All for roads built 50-100 years ago.
These government agencies consume
But barely maintain
What has already been built
These workers, each an individual,
Supervise the rest of us --
Administer fines for non-compliance
Jail, if necessary.
The King, is the state President --
Just a changing face --
Each one uglier than the last
The structure of the U.S.A. has shifted
To government edict --
Down to porous superficial face masks --
Or else, fired!
Liberty lost is permanent. --
Government does not die or falter --
It persists 24 hours
Of every official day including holidays,
Of every calendar year unto eternity
