ENTWINED
Away from
And aloof of
All these past happenings
That when all was truly said
And all was duly done
Left another soul baking
In the hot desert sun
We dot the streets
Alone, discreet
Seeking love, but it hides
You fall, you succumb, you lie
Mistake, after loving mistake
Until mid-life you wonder
Even though I have had it all
Does being left alone qualify
As the most thrusting stab
That the heart must absorb
In order to live on
A wound of surgical depth
Cauterize the bleeding
Sulphur stick
Touch the eyeballs of the mind
Let them see clearly
Until it is beauty they find
And along with a sunset
And a kiss of a song
We float on together
Just like the lullabies
Sung to children in winter night
Behold, an angel joins in
A familiar smile
Looked in a mirror
There were the two of us, entwined
