A Declaration of Dependence
Some 250 years
Down a trail of blood --
A country fought for --
To be a fortress of self-reliance
Seeking freedom
From the heavy hand of government.
Liberty from the European Royalty.
Separation from State and Church unity
Where one uses the other
Unceasingly profiting on the citizen
Who merely works to survive
And benefit the government
Which hides behind a King. --
Or hides behind a President
Operating the levers of enforcement.
Their ubiquitous claims of justice ring false –
As if mouthing the word
Was sufficient proof
Of adherence to the concept.
Ah, the strength of youth sapped
Taken by the invasion of the apps --
Which multiplied like a virus
In the minds of the kids
Who unknowingly disclosed everything
That they ever did
To a judgmental world of algorithms
Paid to find conformers --
While the sinister criminal
Schemes anonymously, encrypted
Like an ancient pharaoh
Who never really died digitally 230323.2
