DOWNSTREAM
Finding ourselves in the clear
Blue light of morning
All skin perfect and smooth
Heaven’s eyes smiling up at you
As you linger above me
Hovering in mid-swoon
Ready to take off into delight
A river you go to
When it is all lined up
And you just want to go
Straight downstream like an arrow
Shot strong and clean
Able to impress any witness
As rejoice we do
When the blessed act is done
And all angels converge
To admit it was raining drops
Of golden dew
Some of it emanating
From the great red jewel
That hovers above
Everyone in love
When they take part in grace
Of the kind God granted
Each of us in the human race
The ability to pass on
Their most heartfelt feelings
To another member
Of our fragile race
That seek to abandon the confines
Of the body and mind
With all manner of conceptions and notions
