DO YOU KNOW THIS?
Child knows –
He is taken care of.
Teen develops doubt –
How long will he be supported
With food, housing, education?
Twenty-something goes out on his own –
“Oh . . . is obeying the boss mandatory?
You mean I must produce?”
Failures drop off.
No promotions for mediocre work.
No decisions or independence entrusted
Unless proven reliable.
Cheaters become exposed
Though it can be delayed.
Worries about how long
And how well you can work arise
Then a wife and joy
And you will provide emotional support to her
At all costs
And at all times
Or bye-bye love
And bye-bye babies.
Worry becomes centered on the other
And drifts away from self-focus.
Boy becomes a mature man –
Working, sacrificing freedoms,
giving time and energy
And they all look up
In a four way hug.
They need you and love you.
And you have gotten it all.
And only when left alone
Do you know this
