DARK

Dark

Dark wings

So crimson purple

So filled with love

Those eyes of glimmer and spark

Which finesse their way into mine

Pupils that absorb everything

Silent pools of black gold

Fingers which find

The back of my neck inviting

While you devour my soul

With your kiss

            What that means is

            When you are gone

I have the same life as anyone

Yet when with you certainty sings

            A song filled with conviction

            Politics and economics and sport

            Reduced to accommodate you

Beneficial feelings come looming

No bent motivations

No obscure money chase.

What challenge left?

Could it be finding love again?

Could it be completing fatherhood?

The great achievement, boys,

Been there.  Seen all sides.

A great parent is the best we get to be.

Every other achievement is secondary.

Valuable but often illusory

The sought reward can be empty or lost.

Don’t lose your kids

And they won’t lose you.
