BRILLIANT TEETH CAN

HIDE A DULL MIND

There is a boldness

In learning not to complain

To self or others.

A disdain of entitled whiners who

Echo the redundancy of blame.

Each point emphasized in their personality

To the level of pre-programmed responses

To each opportunity.

A way of failing

Without personally accepting fault.

            Now granted immunity

            From government and history

            We walk silently without hesitation

            Toward the best results

            We can reasonably obtain

            Knowing that exemplifying

            The best personal qualities

Maximizes value and worth on many levels

Worthy doctrines of love and faith

Pushed through a long life

Can resonate and stimulate

Allowing others to reciprocate

In new and unique ways.

Even a smile reveals much of the soul

But not all of it

As brilliant teeth can hide a dull mind.

            The breeze accelerates

Across the Bay white caps peer

            Flutter their lids

            Then settle as they close.

            A gentle woman’s hand

            Closes on mine.
