BRAVELY INTO THE WOODS

Bravely into the woods

Dark canopy filtering sunlight

To slits and sparkles

On the forest floor

We enter willingly

Not knowing how this relationship

Will evolve

Whether beneficial in the long run

Or shorter than life-long

But if there was a bounty

            That this life can offer

It is in commitment and family

It is in the loving bonds you form

            The most ardent is passion

The deepest hold is daughter and son

Harshest pain is the loss of one

And how some poor innocent soul

Must suffer the loss of more than one

            Is really hard to comprehend

Thus God made us resilient

Able to both feel and recover

From excruciating pain

As though we must experience

These polar events

Must learn to process and heal

Must laugh and cry

In order to be absorbing

Into the consciousness

Of God’s mind

And we have no definitions

For this plan

We just accept it and move on
