ALL THE WORLD LOVES A LOVER
All the world loves a lover
And inside each of us
Is that person
Sometimes watching
Sometimes wondering
Yet the action of the lover is immediate
It is incendiary
It combusts as a bursting ball of fire
Emerging from the grey haze of boredom
Wherein everyone seems tame
Pushed into corners of unremarkable shame
As if being loyal and honest
Is somehow confused with weakness
Whereas the strength of maintaining stability
Surpasses all other acts
Which circulate around the self
And how others perceive
Whereas the stoic, steadfast lover
Sees what that can do
To boost another person
To a higher plain
A greater good
Knowing there is support
A human will walk
Far out into danger
A plank above the sea
A rocky point above the abyss
And stare it down calmly
If he or she has support –
Another, or others, he loves
Someone to appreciate
The blessing which flows from above
