A FAULT IS DETECTED
A fault is detected
Running right up California's spine --
What is left of it.
The docile hippies
Given way to street thugs
Who rob, shoot and beat
Anyone who gets in their way
Because they can
And here we are America
Big cities losing folks
Come on Chicago, Oakland, L.A., N.Y.
And every other big city
A freak show at night
Fentanyl in every other drug
They getting' ya' young buzz
They gonna kill ya --
But you be so high
You won't care
Thinking you can roll out of the casket
And reappear --
But you're gone
Another forgotten name --
No one cares -- nor remembers
Just another body
Part of the human race
Where is America now?
Some new coast to drive to
Some new mountain to climb
A frontier no longer
Our children with no heroes to claim
Just awkward jokes
